Lost Warriors on the Eastern Front

Caught in the maelstrom of the “Great” War, eastern Europe played a forgotten, but crucial role in what some consider to be the most devastating military conflict in history. This group focuses on the experiences and memory of eastern European soldiers. We use journal articles, letters, novels and other scholarly works to find examples of life on the eastern front of the First World War. We pull from everyday experiences and broad themes of internationalism with regards to the eastern experience and present a compact narrative of what one might have experienced living on the front lines of eastern Europe.
